Dr Rishi Roopnarinesingh is a consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology. His special interest field is in reproductive medicine and he has worked with both Professor RF Harrison and Dr. Michael Darling at the Rotunda Hospital. He has been trained in the surgical management of female infertility using micro-surgical techniques and has visited centres in London and the United States to enhance the provision of this service at the Rotunda Hospital.

He has a wide range of experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology, laparoscopic surgery, colposcopy and peri-menopausal medicine.

He received his medical degree from the University of the West Indies in June 1993 and has trained in obstetrics and gynaecology in Trinidad (W.I.), Birmingham (UK) and Ireland.

He worked as assistant master at both the Rotunda Hospital and the National Maternity Hospital between 2003 and 2006. Dr Roopnarinesingh has been a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (UK) since May 1998 and was awarded his Certificate of Completion of Specialists Training in Ireland in 2004. He is also a member of both the Irish and British Fertility Societies and the European Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (minimal access /’key-hole’ surgery).
Dr Roopnarinesingh’s thesis was on hypertensive disorders in pregnancy (high blood pressure) and he has also co-authored a textbook on obstetrics. He has published other scientific papers in general obstetrics and gynaecology and subfertility.
He is married and has three children.
