Dr Etaoin Kent is a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist and a certified specialist in Maternal Fetal Medicine. She has a specialist interest in pre-term birth prevention, prenatal diagnosis, and management of twin pregnancies. Her clinical work in the Rotunda focuses on prenatal diagnosis and treatment using advanced obstetric ultrasound, and both non-invasive and invasive fetal diagnostic techniques. She also provides care to mothers with complex medical and obstetric histories. Dr Kent established and leads the Rotunda’s pre-term birth prevention clinic, and jointly runs the hospital’s high risk medical clinic for women with complex medical disorders.

A graduate of Trinity College, Dublin, Dr Kent’s initial training was in the three Dublin maternity hospitals, during which time she was Assistant Master in the National Maternity Hospital. Thereafter she completed a Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship programme between Dublin (Rotunda Hospital/Coombe) and New York (Columbia University Medical Center), before being appointed to a consultant post in Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals, one of the United Kingdom’s leading maternity & fetal medicine units.

Along with her clinical work, Dr Kent has an established track record in clinical research, with multiple publications in leading obstetric journals, and has been an invited speaker at major national and international conferences. She is helping to shape the training of the next generation of obstetricians & gynaecologists in her role as a head of Basic Specialist Training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with the Royal College of Physicians, Ireland.
She is married with 2 children.
