Pregnancy is one of the most exciting times of your life. At The Rotunda Private and Rotunda Hospital we will endeavour to support and help you enjoy this journey with our expert teams. From early pregnancy scans to continued antenatal and postnatal care, our teams take great pride in being a part of the exciting journey of all parents-to-be who attend us at The Rotunda Private.

Our expertise enables us to provide safe and quality service to look after you and your baby, whether it is your first child, second/ third child expecting twins, or if you or your little one has additional health needs. This is a Consultant led service and your Consultant will have access to state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment in the Grainne Suite, and monitor all stages of your pregnancy with care and transparency, providing advice each step of the way. A further benefit is that the consultant will have access to all of the hospital facilities and any additional services necessary to deal with all aspects of pregnancy care no matter how complicated or acute the situation may be.

As part of our maternity offering we also provide a range of classes, from Parent Education classes, breast feeding classes, and hypnobirthing. Should you experience any problems during your pregnancy, be assured that we are perfectly placed to care for you and your baby. The Rotunda is also renowned for the high standard of its hygiene and catering services, and has won many awards for the quality of its food offerings.

Private Patient Experience

  • Regular antenatal appointments with your chosen consultant providing important continuity of care
  • Online virtual parent education programme is available at no charge. Our Parent Education programme encompasses a multi-disciplinary approach with inclusion of antenatal education specialists, physiotherapists, the medical social work department and mental health support midwives
  • Online Virtual hypnobirthing classes available (at additional charge)
  • Complimentary online breastfeeding classes available
  • All Rotunda blood tests requested by your doctor
  • Regular visits and telephone access to Private Clinic Midwives. (Morning voicemails will be returned by 1 pm on the same day; afternoon voicemails will be returned by 5 pm on the same day). If your query is urgent please contact the Emergency and Assessment Unit on 01 817 1700.
  • Ultrasound scans in the Grainne Suite or Rotunda Private Clinic setting prescribed by your doctor (€100 fee payable to the Rotunda Private Clinic at the time of the booking visit)
  • Attendance at your delivery by your consultant (or another covering consultant if your consultant is on leave)
  • Private room in The Lillie or Mosse Suite after delivery (subject to availability and eligibility with your own insurance plan)

Fees Schedule

Fees range from €3200 to €4500 for your chosen consultant. Some consultants offer a discount if you have attended them for a previous delivery. CONSULTANT FEES are not covered by certain insurance providers that may be provided by your place of work and are payable by the patient. We advise patients to check what accommodation and delivery costs your health insurance cover entitles you to. If you have no health insurance and you are paying for private care, you must pay the charge for 2 nights' accommodation in advance of your admission for the birth of your baby. Other fees will also be charged. For further information about the fees and for any other queries, please contact: patient accounts department by phoning 01 – 817 1763 or 817 1764. Payment of all bills is due in full, on discharge from hospital.

Health Insurance

Please confirm with your health insurance company that you hold an adequate level of cover for your treatment and accommodation at The Rotunda Private.

Please note that there is a 52-week waiting period applied by all insurers before covering you for maternity services.

If you choose to be a private or semi-private patient, you are liable for all costs associated with your maternity care at The Rotunda Private.

It is your responsibility to check with your insurance company to ensure you are fully covered for your hospital stay in a multi-occupancy semi-private or private single occupancy room.

Care Options

If you choose to be a private or semi-private patient, you are liable for all costs associated with your maternity care at Rotunda Private.

Unfortunately, we are unable to guarantee that you will be offered accommodation of your choice during your stay.

Accommodation Rates

Unfortunately, we are unable to absolutely guarantee that you will be offered accommodation of your choice during your stay.

Accommodation rates may increase on the 1st January of each year and there is also a possible yearly increase in medical fees on the 1st July. The price charged will be applicable to the rate at time of admission.

In addition, delivery, anaesthetic, pathology and radiology consultant fees will be payable where applicable. Most policies will cover these fees but again we would advise confirming cover with your insurer.

Health insurance companies cover a three night stay or a five night stay for a caesarean section. If it is medically necessary for you to stay longer that should be covered, although you will need to check what accommodation is covered by your insurer.

After the birth of your baby you can add your baby to your policy immediately.
