Professor Malone is currently Master of the Rotunda Hospital; his seven year term commenced in January 2016.
He was appointed Professor and Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2005. The RCSI School of Medicine is the largest in Ireland, and also has Schools of Medicine in Bahrain, Penang, and Kuala Lumpur. In addition to these academic leadership roles, he has extensive experience in national leadership in healthcare management, and is currently the Clinical Director for Women and Children at the RCSI Hospitals Group, the largest hospital network in Ireland.
Professor Malone is a specialist in maternal-fetal medicine, which is the area of obstetrics that focuses on high-risk pregnancy, multiple gestation management, and fetal therapy. He provides advanced obstetric ultrasound and all forms of prenatal diagnostic services, including amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling (CVS), fetal blood sampling and fetal treatment procedures, such as intrauterine fetal laser surgery and fetal transfusions.
He qualified from University College Dublin in 1991, and completed residency training in obstetrics and gynaecology followed by fellowship training in maternal-fetal medicine at Tufts University-New England Medical Center in Boston. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in both obstetrics and in maternal-fetal medicine, and he has also been elected a Fellow of both the American and Royal Colleges of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

During his time at Columbia University in New York, Professor Malone was responsible for world class research developments in obstetric ultrasound, prenatal diagnosis, and maternal-fetal medicine. He directed the National Institutes of Health Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units Research Network in New York.

Since returning to Ireland, he has established the Perinatal Ireland research consortium which has been responsible for world class research outputs in twin pregnancy, fetal growth restriction and difficult labour.

Dr Barry-Kinsella is a consultant in the Rotunda Hospital and in Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, Dublin.
She qualified from Trinity College, Dublin in 1984. She trained in general obstetrics and gynaecology while working in the Rotunda Hospital, St James’s Hospital, the Coombe Hospital and the Mater Hospital.
Carole became clinical lecturer in TCD in 1988 and subsequently lectured in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland from 1989 - 1993. She continued to pursue her interest in infertility and endometriosis by travelling to Belfast to undertake training in advanced obstetric ultrasound.
In 1998, she established the Prenatal Diagnosis Clinic at the Rotunda for those families who may have a history of serious disorder or abnormalities. She provides 3 sessions per week in this clinic. She continues to teach students and is an honorary lecturer in RCSI.

As a certified specialist in Maternal Fetal Medicine at the Rotunda, Professor Breathnach’s practice focuses on obstetric care, particularly on obstetric ultrasound. Her clinical areas of interest include high risk pregnancy, prenatal screening and diagnosis, and twin pregnancy. Her practice offers prenatal screening for chromosomal abnormality, prenatal diagnostic techniques including amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling (CVS), non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) and advanced prenatal ultrasound services.
She is the lead obstetrician in the combined obstetric-endocrine service at the Rotunda. Together with a consultant specialist endocrinologist, dietician and specialist midwives, this team provides coordinated prenatal and postnatal care for women with diabetes in pregnancy. She completed her doctorate thesis on thyroid function in pregnancy.
Fionnuala also offers integrated prenatal care to women whose pregnancies have been complicated by a prenatal diagnosis of fetal congenital heart disease. This service is coordinated with our paediatric cardiology colleagues in Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.
Professor Breathnach graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1997. She pursued higher specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology at the Rotunda Hospital, Coombe Women and Infants’ University Hospital and St. James’s Hospital in Dublin. She worked as assistant master at the Rotunda from 2004 to 2005 before completing a maternal fetal medicine fellowship programme in the Rotunda Hospital and in Columbia University Medical Center, New York.
The recipient of several research awards, she has published and presented internationally on endocrine disease in pregnancy, prenatal diagnosis and prenatal screening for fetal abnormality. She is the lead researcher on a multicentre national study on twin pregnancy in Ireland.
As associate professor in maternal fetal medicine with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, she is involved in research and medical education at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Dr Naomi Burke is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in the Rotunda Hospital and Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown. She obtained her medical degree from Trinity College in 2006. She completed her specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Rotunda Hospital, Galway University Hospital, St. James' Hospital and worked as Assistant Master in the Coombe Women and Infants University Hospital. She worked as a clinical lecturer for the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. She developed an interest in post graduate medical education throughout her career. Dr Burke has presented research work both nationally and internationally. She carried out research into platelet function in pregnancy and was lead researcher for Perinatal Ireland which carried out a large multi-centre project to predict the risk of Caesarean Section. Her clinical interests include; labour ward obstetrics and medical and surgical management of benign gynaecological conditions including abnormal uterine bleeding, fibroids, urinary incontinence and pelvic floor prolapse.

Dr Kushal Chummun is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in the Rotunda and Connolly Hospital. He also has admission privileges in Blackrock Clinic and the Bon Secours Hospital.

Dr Kushal provides a general obstetric and a wide range of benign gynaecology service. His area of expertise is minimally invasive gynaecology surgery which provides less pain, quicker recovery and shorter hospital stay. He is a certified colposcopist and robotic gynaecology surgeon.

Dr Kushal qualified in UCD in 2004. Following his internship he did a postgraduate Master of Science degree with the Conway Institute of Biomolecular and Biomedical Research Centre in UCD and also tutored anatomy. He was awarded first class honours and the Coombe Masters research medal. He has throughout his career been involved in research and teaching which as he says “keeps him constantly up to date with changes and advances in medicine”. He has a number of publications in reputable peer reviewed journals.

Dr Kushal has successfully completed his specialist training in the highly competitive Irish training scheme and has worked in a number of hospitals across the country including the 4 busiest maternity hospitals namely the Rotunda, National Maternity, Coombe Women and Infants University and Cork University Maternity Hospitals where he has gained significant experience managing all aspects of pregnancy.

He also did a fellowship in advance pelvic surgery and gynaecology laparoscopy and was trained in robotic gynaecology surgery. As part of his dedication to gynaecology and especially minimally invasive surgery he has taken courses and observership programs in Detroit, Sydney and London.

Dr Connolly is mainly based in the Rotunda Hospital where she practices general obstetrics and gynaecology. She established a teenage pregnancy clinic in the Rotunda which caters for teenagers up to 17 years of age. This provides a dedicated obstetrician, midwife and social worker at the clinic. Specific antenatal classes for this age-group concentrate on general health measures including nutrition and sexual health education. Postnatal follow up is also provided with an emphasis on providing contraception.

Geraldine also provides a paediatric gynaecology service and colposcopic examination of children of suspected child abuse in the Children’s University Hospital, Temple Street. Follow up of these girls after 15 years of age is continued in the adolescent gynae clinic in the Rotunda Hospital where appropriate.

Dr Connolly qualified from UCD in 1986. She trained in obstetrics and gynaecology in Dublin and Cambridge, UK. Following a short period as a consultant in Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar, she took up her post as consultant in the Rotunda and the Children’s University Hospital, Temple Street in 2004.

Dr Sharon Cooley is a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist and lead audit clinician for the hospital. Her main clinical areas of interest are obstetric ultrasound and prenatal diagnosis, early pregnancy loss, recurrent pregnancy loss, maternal medicine and general obstetric care. She also runs a general gynaecology service.

She is the Clinical Lead for the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit and has a special interest in complicated pregnancies and pregnancy loss. Sharon is involved in ongoing research and audit in the Rotunda and has a number of major research projects currently underway in the area of maternal medicine. She has also collaborated with international research.
Sharon graduated from the National University of Ireland Galway in 1997 and has worked as a lecturer for Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland as well as an honorary lecturer for the University of Birmingham. She maintains an active role in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and is an Honorary Lecturer for the Royal College of Surgeons.

She completed an award winning doctorate in clotting disorders in pregnancy and has received many academic awards at both national and international scientific meetings. She has trained nationally and internationally and returned to the Rotunda as assistant master in 2008.

Sharon is a member of the executive for the Institute of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Ireland and a member of the working party for the National Clinical Advisory Group, responsible for the development of national evidence based guidelines for obstetrics and gynaecology in Ireland.
She is married with three children.

Professor Sam Coulter-Smith was Master of the Rotunda Hospital from January 2009 to December 2015. During his Mastership he devoted much of his time to ensuring quality and safety standards were maintained at the Rotunda, and raised the profile of maternity services onto the national stage.

He has been a consultant in the Rotunda since 2002. During this time he developed a special interest in the area of infection in pregnancy. He was also instrumental in expanding the diabetes service at the hospital and also has a big interest in complications of early pregnancy.

He has an interest in gynaecology, particularly familial ovarian cancer and pelvic floor surgery.
Professor Sam Coulter-Smith qualified from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1987. His initial training in obstetrics and gynaecology was done at the Rotunda Hospital before moving to the United Kingdom where he completed his MRCOG and obtained further experience and training in the Hammersmith Hospital, Kings College Hospital, London, and the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead.

While in the UK he did his clinical research in the area of familial ovarian cancer screening and transvaginal ultrasound. He returned to the Rotunda Hospital as Assistant Master in 1996 and rotated between the Rotunda and the National Maternity Hospital as a senior registrar until 2002 when he was appointed as consultant in the Rotunda.

Professor Coulter-Smith is a clinical professor attached to the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland and has a keen interest in training of both under graduate and post graduate students.

He also plays an important role within the Institute of Obstetricians & Gynaecologist of Ireland and is a strong advocate for the improvement of maternity services in Ireland. He is also a member of the Women’s Health Council.
He is a regular contributor to the media in relation to all aspects of maternity and childbirth and he is married with three children. He continues to maintain both his public and private practice at the Rotunda.

Her clinical areas of interest include prenatal screening and diagnosis, high risk pregnancy, maternal medical complications of pregnancy, early pregnancy loss, and general obstetric care. Her practice offers prenatal screening for chromosomal abnormality, prenatal diagnostic techniques including amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling (CVS) and advanced prenatal ultrasound services.

She is the obstetric lead of the combined Rotunda Hospital/Mater Misericordiae University Hospital service for women with congenital cardiac conditions and the Maternal Medicine Multidisciplinary Team. She provides an obstetric consult service to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital.

Jennifer graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1997. She commenced training in obstetrics and gynaecology in Dublin followed by the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. She then pursued higher specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology at all three Dublin Maternity Hospitals, Our Lady of Lourdes, Drogheda and St James’s Hospital, Dublin.
Jennifer worked as Assistant Master at the Rotunda and then completed an RCOG Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship programme in Ireland (Rotunda Hospital/Coombe Women and Infants University Hospital) and in Columbia University Medical Center, New York.

She has published and presented internationally on venous thromboembolism in pregnancy, microarray in prenatal diagnosis, and prenatal screening for fetal abnormality.

Dr Maeve Eogan graduated from University College Dublin in 1996 and completed Higher Specialist Training in the three Dublin Maternity Hospitals, the Mater University Hospital and Galway University Hospital. During her training, Dr Eogan also worked as clinical lecturer for UCD, based at the National Maternity Hospital, and developed her interest and expertise in complicated vaginal delivery and postnatal care. She has published and presented her research findings internationally. Prior to working at the Rotunda, Dr Eogan worked as a Consultant at the National Maternity Hospital and Merrion Fertility Clinic.
Dr Eogan has been a Consultant in the Rotunda since 2009. She provides obstetric services as well as a clinic specifically for women who have sustained anal sphincter injury at vaginal delivery or who have other postnatal complications. Dr Eogan also takes care of women with infectious diseases or addiction issues during pregnancy and is very involved with postgraduate education at the Rotunda. Dr Eogan also works at the Sexual Assault Treatment Unit and is National Specialty Director for Postgraduate Training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at RCPI . Dr Eogan is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at RCSI.
Maeve was delighted to be awarded ‘Obstetrician of the Year’ at Boots Maternity and Infant Awards in November 2015 and also to be awarded ‘Top Obstetrician’ at the Mum’s and Tots Awards in both 2016 and 2017.

Karen’s main clinical areas of interest include early pregnancy loss, twin pregnancy and high risk obstetrics. She is currently the lead clinician for the early pregnancy service and recurrent pregnancy loss clinic. As a certified specialist in maternal fetal medicine she offers prenatal screening for chromosomal abnormality, prenatal diagnostic techniques including amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling (CVS) and advanced prenatal ultrasound services. She also runs a general gynaecology service. As a certified specialist in maternal fetal medicine, Karen’s practice focuses on obstetric care, particularly on obstetric ultrasound. Karen is the lead obstetrician in the recurrent pregnancy loss clinic in the Rotunda. This service provides couples with thorough investigation related to their pregnancy loss, in addition to dedicated early pregnancy support with frequent ultrasound monitoring and counselling. She also runs a general gynaecology service.

Dr Karen Flood graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2001. Karen has pursued higher specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology at the three Dublin Maternity Hospitals, Cork University Maternity Hospital and the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital. She worked as Assistant Master at the Rotunda in 2013 following completion of a maternal fetal medicine fellowship programme in the Rotunda Hospital and in Columbia University Medical Center, New York. Eve Gaughan is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist working in the Rotunda Hospital and the James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown.

After graduating from the Royal College of Surgeons in 2002, Eve went on to pursue her higher specialist training in general obstetrics and gynaecology at the three Dublin Maternity Hospitals, Cork University Maternity Hospital and the Mater Hospital. She was Assistant Master in the National Maternity Hospital in 2011-2012 and in the Coombe Hospital in 2012-2013.

She has undertaken a fellowship in gynae pelvic surgery in the Mater Hospital and an Ambulatory Gynaecology and Minimal Access fellowship with special interest in pelvic pain and endometriosis in Worthing and Brighton Hospitals in the UK. She is currently completing a masters in Advanced Gynaecological Endoscopy in the University of Surrey in the UK.
Eve specialises in minimal access gynaecology, including laparoscopic management of ovarian cysts, the provision of laparoscopic hysterectomy and hysteroscopic removal of fibroids and endometrial ablation for heavy periods. She has a special interest in pelvic pain and endometriosis.

Eve established the Out-Patient Hysteroscopy service for the Rotunda in 2016 and is the clinical lead for this department. She specialises in the out-patient investigation of abnormal bleeding and the treatment of polyps and small fibroids under local anaesthetic.

As a certified colposcopist, she performs colposcopy clinics for the management of abnormal cervical smear tests.
She enjoys research and teaching and is a minimal access instructor for the higher specialist training scheme. Research areas of interest include ovarian cancer risk reduction.

Professor Michael Geary qualified as a doctor from the National University of Ireland Galway in 1989. His specialist work in Obstetrics and Gynaecology has been undertaken in Dublin, London and Toronto. He works primarily in the area of maternal-fetal medicine and high-risk obstetrics. He has received many academic awards at national and international level. Michael held the position of Master of the Rotunda from 2002 to 2008.

With almost 30 years of experience in the specialty, he has been driven by a desire to constantly improve and optimise safe outcomes for mothers and babies. His approach to care is to ensure that his patients are well informed and that their care is tailored to their individual needs and circumstances. His motivation is for safety first while ensuring patients and partners have a positive and happy birth experience.

After initial training in the specialty in Dublin, Michael did further postgraduate training in the UK. While conducting clinical research at University College Hospital London, he completed his medical doctorate. After completing his specialist training he did sub-specialty training in Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of Toronto, one of the busiest training programs in North America. He worked at Mount Sinai Hospital and the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Michael has Fellowships from the Royal Colleges in both the UK and Ireland, and is certified in Advanced Obstetric Ultrasound by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the Royal College of Radiologists.

Michael was appointed Chief Executive Officer/Master of the Rotunda in January 2002 and has held academic appointments as Professor at Trinity College and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. During his seven-year term as Master, he was instrumental in leading the team to many new clinical and quality improvement innovations in order to enhance patient care. Following this term, Michael worked as a consultant at the Rotunda before taking up the post of Chief of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto and Professor of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the University of Toronto in 2014. While working as a subspecialist in maternal fetal medicine at St Michael’s, he was the Lead for Obstetrics on the Quality Improvement & Patient Safety committee at the university. During this time he was central to leading change and quality improvement across the Greater Toronto Area for postpartum haemorrhage, caesarean section audit, and optimising management of medical emergencies in labour.

Recognising the power of academic partnership, Michael is particularly interested in fostering research collaborations nationally and internationally and is a founding member of the highly successful Perinatal Ireland Research Consortium. More recently, he was involved in setting up the Greater Toronto Area OBGYN Clinical Research Network in 2014. Throughout his career, he has led and collaborated in a large number of research programs, including international randomized trials and cohort studies. His specific research interests include fetal growth, labour, twins, thyroid function in pregnancy, clotting disorders in pregnancy, recurrent miscarriage, postpartum haemorrhage, pregnancy hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and the role and use of low dose aspirin in pregnancy. Michael is committed to education of medical and midwifery students, and postgraduate trainees in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He has supervised and mentored numerous trainees in research, many of whom have completed medical doctorates.

Michael returned to the Rotunda in September 2017 as Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, and has also been appointed Director of Labour & Delivery. Dr Ronan Gleeson has an interest in ultrasound scanning and high risk obstetrics and runs the twin clinic in the Rotunda. His special areas of interest in gynaecology are endometrial ablation procedures, hysteroscopic surgery, and prolapse repair.

As a senior lecturer in the Rotunda, Dr Gleeson has been responsible for teaching schedules of both undergraduate and postgraduate students and research projects with Trinity College Dublin. He is currently senior lecturer with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

Dr Gleeson qualified from Trinity College Dublin in 1980. He trained in obstetrics and gynaecology in the Rotunda Hospital and Coombe Women’s Hospital, Dublin.

Following this he worked in London in the Hammersmith Hospital which specialises in tertiary referral high risk obstetrics. He spent four years there doing clinical and research work in the O&G department of the University of London and was awarded MD on the basis of this research. He then worked in the University Department of obstetrics and gynaecology in the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne.

He returned to Ireland in 1991 as assistant master in the Rotunda Hospital and was appointed to a consultant / senior lecturer post in 1995. He has been convenor of postgraduate meetings in the Institute of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists from 1993 - 1995 and Honorary Secretary of the Institute from 1995 - 1998. He represented the Institute on the European Board & College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (EBCOG) for three years.

Dr. Richard Horgan is a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with subspecialty training in Maternal Fetal Medicine. His clinical areas of interest are obstetric ultrasound, high risk pregnancy, fetal growth, placental complications of pregnancy, antenatal care and benign gynaecology.

Dr. Richard Horgan graduated in Medicine from University College Cork in 1998. His specialist registrar training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology was in Ireland. During this time he also completed his PhD Thesis after three years of full-time research into abnormal fetal growth, between University College Cork and the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. He has published and presented his research nationally and internationally. Dr. Horgan has also been involved in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level throughout his career.

His subspecialty training in Maternal Fetal Medicine was in Toronto, Canada. Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto is the largest high risk obstetric unit in Canada and has one of the most successful Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship Programs in North America.

Dr. Horgan commenced as a Consultant Obstetrician Gynaecologist at University Hospital Kerry and Cork University Maternity Hospital in 2015. At University Hospital Kerry, Richard led the Perinatal Medicine Team with responsibility for High-Risk and Fetal Medicine Clinics and establishing a Fetal Medicine service including anatomy scanning. Following setting up this service among others, Richard took up the post of Consultant at the Rotunda in 2017.

Dr Etaoin Kent is a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist and a certified specialist in Maternal Fetal Medicine. She has a specialist interest in pre-term birth prevention, prenatal diagnosis, and management of twin pregnancies. Her clinical work in the Rotunda focuses on prenatal diagnosis and treatment using advanced obstetric ultrasound, and both non-invasive and invasive fetal diagnostic techniques. She also provides care to mothers with complex medical and obstetric histories. Dr Kent established and leads the Rotunda’s pre-term birth prevention clinic, and jointly runs the hospital’s high risk medical clinic for women with complex medical disorders.

A graduate of Trinity College, Dublin, Dr Kent’s initial training was in the three Dublin maternity hospitals, during which time she was Assistant Master in the National Maternity Hospital. Thereafter she completed a Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship programme between Dublin (Rotunda Hospital/Coombe) and New York (Columbia University Medical Center), before being appointed to a consultant post in Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals, one of the United Kingdom’s leading maternity & fetal medicine units.

Along with her clinical work, Dr Kent has an established track record in clinical research, with multiple publications in leading obstetric journals, and has been an invited speaker at major national and international conferences. Dr Rajab has been working in Beaumont/Rotunda Hospitals as consultant gynaecologist since September 2015. He has 14 years experience in both obstetrics and gynaecology and was a permanent consultant at Our Lady Of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda from 2012-2015.

Dr Rishi Roopnarinesingh is a consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology. His special interest field is in reproductive medicine and he has worked with both Professor RF Harrison and Dr. Michael Darling at the Rotunda Hospital. He has been trained in the surgical management of female infertility using micro-surgical techniques and has visited centres in London and the United States to enhance the provision of this service at the Rotunda Hospital.

He has a wide range of experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology, laparoscopic surgery, colposcopy and peri-menopausal medicine.

He received his medical degree from the University of the West Indies in June 1993 and has trained in obstetrics and gynaecology in Trinidad (W.I.), Birmingham (UK) and Ireland.

He worked as assistant master at both the Rotunda Hospital and the National Maternity Hospital between 2003 and 2006. Dr Roopnarinesingh has been a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (UK) since May 1998 and was awarded his Certificate of Completion of Specialists Training in Ireland in 2004. Prof EL-Khuffash is a Consultant Neonatologist and Paediatrician. His two primary clinical and research areas of expertise are heart function in neonates and the promotion of breast feeding, and breast feeding support, to new mothers. He is the lead for neonatal echocardiography and heart function assessment in the neonatal intensive care unit in the Rotunda Hospital.

Prof EL-Khuffash has considerable knowledge of breast feeding medicine and experience in providing antenatal and postnatal breast feeding advice and support to new mothers. This includes identifying and addressing challenges to breastfeeding in both the mother and the baby. Prof EL-Khuffash is currently in the process of gaining formal qualification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.

In addition to his certified neonatal fellowship training, Prof EL-Khuffash completed a fellowship in neonatal cardiology in Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. He has explored the use of novel technology in monitoring the cardiovascular function of preterm and sick term infants and was part devising the only neonatal echo training course in Canada. He co-devised the world’s first echo teaching website and mobile device app. Recently, Prof EL-Khuffash has assumed a leadership role at a European level in devising training guidelines for echocardiography by the Neonatologist. He is the lead editor of the Haemodynamic Module in the NOTE project, offering a new international online Masters level educational programme in neonatal medicine as collaboration between the European Society for Neonatology (ESN) and the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Southampton.

Prof EL-Khuffash graduated from Trinity College, Dublin in 2002 and enrolled in the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland paediatric specialist training scheme in 2005. He completed a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in University College, Dublin in 2008 and his neonatal specialty training in Toronto, Canada (2009-2011). Following this, he was appointed as a consultant Neonatologist and Assistant Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Toronto in January of 2011. He obtained a diploma in clinical epidemiology during his time in Toronto.

He is the recipient of several national and international research awards, with international peer reviewed publications and keynote presentations and the lead for cardiovascular research, supervising several post graduate PhD candidates.

She graduated from Trinity College in 1996. She trained in the National Maternity Hospital where she completed her post doctoral thesis (MD) in brainwave tracing in babies at risk of brain injury.

Dr Foran tutored in the RCSI Temple Street before completing her specialist registrar training in the Imperial College, Hammersmith, London where she worked for a year as a consultant before she took a post in the Rotunda Hospital as a consultant neonatologist in September 2007.

Associate Professor Fionnuala Ní Áinle was appointed to the post of Consultant Haematologist in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and Rotunda Hospital, Dublin in 2012. She has a specialist interest in treating patients affected with blood clots (venous thromboembolism) and pregnant women with blood disorders.

She co-directs the translational research group SPHERE, based at the Conway Institute, University College Dublin, where she holds an Associate Clinical Fellowship. Since her appointment she has been awarded several competitive, peer-reviewed research awards, including prestigious Health Research Board and Science Foundation Ireland grants.

She is a member of the task force to develop the 2019 European Society of Cardiology guidelines on Acute Pulmonary Embolism and is Chairperson of the Ireland East Health Group (IEHG) Venous Thromboembolism Working Group.

Welcome to the Rotunda Private Clinics. Our team of experienced Midwives, and Obstetricians work in partnership with women and their families to provide expert, individualised, holistic care during pregnancy and the post natal period. We also provide expert care to women attending for gynaecological and infertility investigations.

The relaxed and friendly atmosphere of the clinic is underpinned by the teams desire to provide care which is both women focused and evidence based.

If you have to leave a voice message, we will endeavour to answer your query and respond in the same working day. Hazel is the Clinical Midwife Manager in the Private Clinics, Rotunda Hospital. A Rotunda trained midwife with a nursing background, Hazel has a particular interest in the education and preparation of women and their partners for labour, birth and parenthood. This is further complimented by her teaching background of yoga for pregnancy which she provides in The Rotunda Hospital on a weekly basis. Hazel completed a Masters in Midwifery at Trinity College Dublin in 2013 and is a guest lecturer to student midwives in Trinity College on the topics of exercise during pregnancy and pregnancy yoga.

In her capacity as Clinical Midwife Manager, Hazel plays an active part in hands-on midwifery care as well as the day to day running of the clinics. This includes clinical leadership and supervision of midwifery staff and students, liaison with other members of the clinical and managerial team and the promotion of evidence based care within the realms of safety and governance. Hazel is aware of the wealth of experience, knowledge and enthusiasm within the midwifery team and its potential benefit to both the clinic and the women who attend here.

Caroline Halligan is a Staff Midwife and a mother of 3 children; she trained at The Rotunda Hospital as one of the first direct entry Midwives in Ireland. With over 7 years’ experience looking after women and their families on the antenatal, postnatal and labour wards in her role as a Midwife, Caroline returned to work at The Rotunda Private clinics in 2015.
Alongside her role as Staff Midwife in the semi-private and private clinics supporting women during their pregnancy, Caroline has been involved in setting up the Gestational Diabetes Clinic within the Private Clinic setting and plays an active role in supporting women in this area.

Sarah trained as a midwife in the Rotunda. She has a special interest in preparing couples so that they can make informed decisions about their pregnancy, birth and parenting. She aims to empower each couple in her care so that they feel safe and ready to meet their baby. Sarah is a trained antenatal and hypnobirthing teacher and teaches hypnobirthing for the Rotunda. Sarah also works with the parent support group Cuidiu which provides antenatal and postnatal support.

Jeannine is a registered midwife having trained achieved a BSc Midwifery in Trinity College Dublin. Jeannine has worked in the Private clinic for 5 years and is passionate about facilitating woman cantered care in pregnancy, birth and beyond.

Her area of interest is perinatal mental health and last December attended a maternal mental health awareness event in the House of Commons, and has given presentations on motherhood and mental well-being.

Jeannine is currently doing her masters in Health and social care with a focus on domestic violence.
Most recently Jeannine received the MAMA (Midwives and Mother's Alliance) 'Midwife of the year' award
