Dr Kushal Chummun is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in the Rotunda and Connolly Hospital. He also has admission privileges in Blackrock Clinic and the Bon Secours Hospital.

Dr Kushal provides obstetrics and a wide range of benign gynaecology services. His area of expertise is minimally invasive gynaecology surgery which provides less pain, quicker recovery and shorter hospital stay. He is a certified colposcopist and robotic gynaecology surgeon.

Dr Kushal qualified in UCD in 2004. Following his internship he did a postgraduate Master of Science degree with the Conway Institute of Biomolecular and Biomedical Research Centre in UCD and also tutored anatomy. He was awarded first class honours and the Coombe Masters research medal. He has throughout his career been involved in research and teaching which as he says “keeps him constantly up to date with changes and advances in medicine”. He has a number of publications in reputable peer reviewed journals.

Dr Kushal has successfully completed his specialist training in the highly competitive Irish training scheme and has worked in a number of hospitals across the country including the 4 busiest maternity hospitals namely the Rotunda, National Maternity, Coombe Women and Infants University and Cork University Maternity Hospitals where he has gained significant experience managing all aspects of pregnancy.

He also did a fellowship in advance pelvic surgery and gynaecology laparoscopy and was trained in robotic gynaecology surgery. As part of his dedication to gynaecology and especially minimally invasive surgery he has taken courses and observership programs in Detroit, Sydney and London.
